When I select the "Mark items for deletion..." checkbox (and leave the "Purge items when..." checkbox selected), email is indeed deleted. When the "Mark items for deletion..." checkbox is left unchecked, the email is moved to the Deleted folder, but it isn't deleted from the source folder.

(And I'm purposefully calling it the source folder, because this inability to delete email in Outlook 2016 bug isn't limited to the Inbox).

If you’ve installed Office 2016 since its release on September 22, and are using Microsoft Outlook 2016 with any IMAP-enabled accounts, you might have experienced a bug.

The Office 2016 upgrade does a great job retaining previous settings, particularly for Outlook 2016.

Another "funny" fact is that Select All (control A) does not work on this mailbox (but in all the others, it's ok). In Account Settings/(my account)/Server Settings/More Settings/Advanced, I checked "enable cached exchange mode", event if I did not need it. I sometimes accidentally collapse the view so that a particular day appears to have no emails when there are actually some there. If you do an advanced search based on "read status" you will find those unread messages in your one of your mailboxes. When you are using a Gmail account over IMAP in Outlook, you’ll also automatically get an [Gmail] or [Google Mail] folder containing all the “system folders” of Gmail itself. To break yourself out of this additional subfolder and have all these folders listed directly under your mailbox in Outlook, you can set a root folder for your Gmail IMAP account. If there is no unread mail, then you can apply the solution above (mark all read).I did the same before, we just had the new Outlook and Exchange server 2013 and I had this problem also.Yes The Ignore button on the ribbon moves an entire conversation and any future replies to that conversation directly to the Deleted Items folder.
